The Economist: Shifting Blame
March 12th, 2006
Talk about shifting blame. This is the March 4th, 2006, cover of the Economist magazine, which in 2003 came out in support of Bush’s war of choice against Iraq.
Of course, the fact is that Iraq finds itself in the current situation because of Bush’s invasion (which the Economist supported) and, too, because the Bush Administration ignored any evidence that contradicted the drive for war. Moreover, once the Bush Administration chose to go to war it painted an overly rosy scenario of what post-invasion Iraq would be like — once more ignoring what even his own State Department experts were saying.
